Utini?

So I'm browsing Wookipedia, and something a little surprising strikes me - there aren't any Jawa Jedi! What's up with that? I mean, if I got the chance to write an official Star Wars novel or comic or something, the first thing I'd do would be to stick a Jawa Jedi knight in the background or something. I mean, hell, they're already wearing the robes, and being short's no drawback when it comes to being a Jedi master! What's not to love about Jawas? They have giant transports and repair droids and have a language which apparently consists entirely of shouting "Utini!"

So, OK, granted, maybe most people aren't as fond of Jawas as I am - but surely someone would have written one by now! Damnit, we've got canon Hutt Jedi but no Jawas! Granted, the only Hutt Jedi we've seen was in the cracktastic Planet of Twilight, which also features a rogue appetizer as the main villain, and I'm pretty fond of the idea of Hutt Jedi too, but still...

Is there a conspiracy? Does Lucas reject any proposal for a story containing Jawas with lightsabers? Is he anti-Jawa? Damnit, where's my Jedi Jawas?!

Everyone loves Arizona schoolchildren in robes! And I bet a Jawa Jedi would have the most awesome lightsaber ever. It would be the Millenium Falcon of lightsabers, built from cool bits of junk from all over Tatooine and always breaking down until it does something awesome. The Jawa Jedi could convert a teeny space in the sandcrawler into a meditation room, and roam around the desert in search of Force-sensitives. And freeing slaves, because it's about time somebody got around to that.

What about Gungans and Ewoks? Do they have Jedi?

Apparently, yes, for both - Wookipedia says there's an unnamed Ewok Jedi in one of the Star Wars RPG sourcebooks. Fun stuff - there's also Ewoks in the New Republic navy; Dark Empire shows a couple of them as part of the crew of a crashed Republic Star Destroyer! Apparently after the Battle of Endor, the Ewoks were quick to make it out of the stone age...

There's also an unnamed canonical Gungan Jedi Master; one of the Star Wars: Battlefront games apparently has a display in one of th levels of busts of the 'Lost Twenty', the Jedi Masters who, like Dooku, voluntarily resigned their commissions and went renegade. One of them's a Gungan!

Wow, the Ewoks must be even craftier than we knew! Though I guess if they can take down a legion of the Empire's best troops with sticks and rocks and drive a speeder on the first try, we shouldn't be surprised that they catch on so quickly. Better keep them away from the superweapons...

I would LOVE to know what that Gungan Jedi did after he resigned.

However, this makes the lack of a Jawa Jedi all the more glaring.
