Wikileaks has a copy of the censored Internet blacklist the government’s proposing. It’s an odd collection; tons of porn – as you’d expect, though a fair amount of it sounds pretty vanilla. A handful of gambling sites – a sop to Xenophon? Encyclopedia Dramatica?! A dentist. A pro-polygamy Christian website. A bunch of youtube videos, all of which have already been deleted. A single video on the PETA site. A few more oddly specific targets – a single forum thread on a forum that doesn’t seem to be operational at the moment. The ‘samples’ page of a porn site, but not the site itself. A couple of images on Wikipedia relating to adult films. 2 Girls 1 Cup... and a pumpkin themed parody of Goats.cx.

Senator Conroy’s already condemning the leak, claiming it was irresponsible to publish the list – while at the same time insisting this list isn’t the real secret list…

Fortunatly, the press does seem to be focusing on the absurd aspects of the list, rather than adopting a ‘save the childrens!’ attitude, so hopefully this will be the last nail in this whole idiotic scheme… Nobody seems to support it, and I can’t see the government expending the political capital needed to force it through the senate. Still, it annoys me that this sort of idea got as far as it has.
