4thofelevenRandom thought struck me: Why did Luke get to keep R2-D2?
Artoo’s clearly not just an ordinary droid – he’s got all sorts of random devices and storage compartments and can hack into anything. He’s a top-secret rebel commando droid, entrusted with the most vital missions! But Luke just plugs him into his starfighter and stores his lightsaber in him.
I guess Leia didn’t get a chance to ask for the droid back while they were getting off the Death Star, and after Luke destroyed the Death Star it would have been rude to point out to him that “You know, technically speaking, that’s not your robot.”
Still, the rebels seem kind of casual about who gets to use their equipment.
