What strikes me as weird is that this is apparently a discovery - that nobody remembered that the Soviets stuck a bust of Lenin in the middle of Antarctica...

There's got to be a killer story in this. THE LOST BUST OF LENIN, a tale of Antarctic adventure, political intrigue, and betrayal! There has to be betrayal somewhere, right?

Or perhaps a poem about a pallid bust of Lenin just above the icy floor. Quoth the penguin, "Nevermore" and all that.

Clearly the Soviets were on a secret mission to destroy the Nazi leadership, who had fled to their secret Antarctic base after the fall of Berlin! The bust marks the very spot where Undead Vladimir Lenin gave his life to stop Mecha-Hitler from opening a passage into the Hollow Earth and unleashing his Shoggoth army against the proletariat!
