Mother of Demons, Queen of the Night
Jan. 24th, 2008 04:14 pmSo I met someone the other day called Lilith, and it got me thinking - when and how did 'Lilith' become an acceptable name? Now granted, it is a very pretty name, and the mythological Lilith had traditionally been portrayed as pretty bad-ass. On the other hand, the mythological Lilith is also associated with disease, demons, vampirism, and the death of children, and since the middle ages has also been identified as the wife of Asmodeus, Demon prince of Lust. It seems to me that naming your kid "Lilith" is just one step removed from naming your child "Lucifer"...
Which, to be fair, also strikes me as a pretty good name if you're willing to ignore the historical context... :)
