The Roof May As Well Be On Fire
Jan. 29th, 2009 01:10 pmGuess who's air conditioner just died? Why yes, it *is* the second-hottest week in Melbourne on record... Thank god the unit in my bedroom is still working.
I had to climb up on the roof to check the main unit, reset the breaker - and it looked like it was working again! Then, twenty minutes later, it died again. And, of course, the earliest anyone can come and look at it is late next week; the guy who originally installed it has gone out of business, and almost every other air-conditioning specialist is booked up for a month.
Meanwhile, the news stations seem to be almost salivating over the prospect of Ash Wednesday-style fires...
