4thofelevenIt’s awful what’s happening in the bushfires; every time I’ve checked the news, the death tolls increased by a dozen or more. I was thinking ‘damn, that’s a big fire’ back when the toll was only twenty-something… Thank the gods this happened at the end of the hot weather, not the beginning. Good luck to anyone in the affected areas!
Looks like at least one of the big fires was deliberately lit; bloody arsonists. I’ve got more respect for terrorists – at least they’re killing innocents for a cause, not just shit and giggles. Lighting a fire under the conditions we’ve had recently is as much murder as planting a bomb would be.
Oddity: in Parliament, the prime minister thanked the various countries that had offered support to Australia. Usual unsurprising list – New Zealand, Britain, the US, East Timor, most of the Pacific nations, bunch of others… and Andorra. The hell? Nice that they sent us a message of support – I just would have assumed they leave stuff like that to the French and Spanish governments…
