Watch this anti-piracy video. Please, you have to.

Alright, now you’ve watched it. THE HELL WAS WITH THE KLINGONS?

I mean, granted, none of that video made any sense, but throwing in a Klingon cameo sent it from ‘mildly baffling’ to ‘the end of 2001’.

I was going to make a joke about how they could do another video with the Borg and compare file-sharing to the hive mind, but then I realised – they put Klingons in their trailer for their anti-piracy rapping video thing. There’s nothing I could say that would make them seem stupider.

KLINGONS

WTF

...okay, got that out of my system.

Having just watched "The Menagerie," I can't get the image of Spock turning himself over for arrest under charges of digital piracy out of my head. Those Talosians and their illegal transmissions! (But you're right that the video could not actually get stupider. Klingons. Anti-piracy rap video with bonus prison tats. WHAT.)

I'm not sure they've thought this through all the way. I mean, is one goony looking Klingon telling his equally goony looking buddy not to copy things really going to cancel out Captain Picard replicating a cup of tea in every episode?

I don't think Star Trek sends the message about copying things that these people want enforced... *grin*

PICARD: Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.
DATA: Captain, replicating the unique information of an item is unethical.
EVERYONE ON THE BRIDGE: ...
KLINGON ON THE VIEWSCREEN: ...
DATA: I apologize. I appear to be experience a malfunction.

What makes '92 the birth of the digital age?

Why do all patheticly dismal anti drug / piracy / sex videos always feature a rapper that is ten times lamer than Vanilla Ice?

More to the point why would you get a fake "gangster rapper" to rap AGAINST crime?

Do you think the vido was suggesting that the jailhouse tatt was also pirated?

What's with the expressions on the Klingon's faces when they just stand there for a while?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to mininova.com - because I don't want to end up like the dudes in the video...

Hey, now, hold on - what genre of popular music is more associated with enforcing the legal codes of society than rap?!

And yes, I think the video was speaking out against the often ignored scourge of pirated tatoo designs.
