To everyone throwing fits over Disney's aquisition of Marvel: Might I remind you that Disney also owns Miramax? In other words, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs were all produced by a Disney-owned company.

For that matter, PotC 3 was released directly under the Disney name, and went from their logo to innocent children being hanged in the space of about a minute.

I'm not that fond of Disney myself, but they don't exactly force everything they touch to be G rated...

Thanks for this news. Miramax has thoroughly adult (and many times, nasty) movies in its stable. So Marvel is now Disney --- hmmm, I can't see it making much difference in Marvel's product, but I may be wrong.

There is a stunning vid here re Disney templates that will blow your mind.

The way it's being reported and discussed, you'd think Mickey Mouse was scheduled to appear in the next Spider-Man movie... But it's not as though the people who make Disney movies are now in charge of Marvel Comics, it's just that they're now part of the same entertainment conglomerate. Disney's got a particular style, sure - but that's only because everything that doesn't fit their family-friendly image gets released through one of their other subsiduaries.

Actually, the thing that surprised me about the news was learning that Marvel wasn't *already* part of one of the big media empires...

That video - damn, that's not even subtle duplication!

Lee and Kirby lasted a long time solo and I'd liked their stuff in the 60's. I think they were fun guys and certainly successful, but their comics and Mickey and Donald don't jibe. It's most likely a business thing and maybe will help the comics industry? Webcomics seem the way to go lately. Print ones, at 3 bucks a pop, can be pricey, as who collects just one comic? Once you get in the store and look around, that is.

That video, excellent editing and it made sense. In the face of things like 'Under The Sea', and 'Beauty and the Beast's waltz' scene, perhaps the recent films seem better and better. I'd like to see Disney tackle a science fiction story as a treat, rather than a rehashed fable. 'Wall-E' was amazing.
