Probably too late now, but for future...

- an essay by Pam Noles about her experiences growing up as a black sf/f reader and discovering Earthsea

- NK Jemison on lack of diversity in sf/f (focuses more on sf, but not entirely)

- Nnedi Okorafor on Stephen King's Super-Duper Magical Negroes

None of which are scholarly, but still interesting.
